This is my first blog I’ll try update it regularly.
Well were do I start?
What an exciting year 2009 was for me. I started secondary school back in the summer, The Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead opened a few miles from my home, giving me access to regular riding (most days) and improving my snowboarding skills. I won an array of medals and goodies at comps here in the UK and in Europe.
I have also been very fortunate to pick up a selection of new sponsors, and I am looking forward to representing The Snow Centre, DC for boots and outerwear (a brand he‘s be a huge fan of for years), Flow snowboards and bindings, Conspiracy snowboard shop, Electric eyewear, Buff head wear and Chuckbuddies. All of who I would like to say a massive thank you to, for giving me the opportunity to progress in a sport that I love so much.
Here’s what some of them had to say:-
The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead
are pleased to be to announce support for up and coming snowboard star Jake Terry. Jake was one of the first riders to catch the eye of the Snow Centre management team when the centre opened in May 2009.
Centre Director Pete Gillespie said:
“ Its great to see talent and motivation is someone so young. Jake regularly attends our Freestyle sessions here at The Snow Centre and is an inspiration to all who watch him. It didn’t take long for me to work out that this young lad has a future in professional snowboarding, and already enjoys respect and credibility for the wider snowboard community. Here at The Snow Centre we are delighted to be associated with Jake, he truly represents excellence”
James Stentiford, DC team manager :-
DC UK are stoked to welcome Jake Terry to the team and look forward helping him develop as a rider and making all his snowboarding dreams come true.
Flow snowboards :-
"we're absolutely stoked with our association with Jake on what for us in
the UK is a brand new FLOW team. FLOW in the US has a fabulous record of
nurturing and supporting young riders to not only improve in their boarding
skills but also to learn that being a Brand Ambassador comes with a set of
responsibilities not only to the Brand but to your parents, peers and
yourself. We're confident that Jake's got a really good chance to develop
into a quality Pro if he so chooses and FLOW's delighted to help him take
those first steps towards shredding the World! Well done Jake!:
Electric Visual
“we are very happy to have Jake on board, representing our brand and we wish him all the luck for the future and at the BEO. Check him out wearing our latest goggles.”
I have a confirmed slot at the prestigious Burton European Open 2010, in January, in Laax, Switzerland. I will be competing in the junior slope style and half pipe events, where I hope to give my Swatch TTR world ranking a boost, currently I am placed 7th in the UK and 105th in the World.
I will be going back to Laax at the end of March for the British Championships. I haven’t got any immediate plans for the rest of the season, but will be off somewhere during the school holidays. I am always up for a road trip to a comp or just for a shred, making some new acquaintances as I go.
No doubt that you will see me on my board somewhere near you soon.
